The library contains programs for making all relevant and necessary calculations for setting up the mill on daily basis as well as for making new pass designs and designing new mills.



The DOS version of ROLLING has been in the market since 1985 and the first Windows version was released 1998. The ROLLING library is used by more than 120 companies around the world for improving the process conditions in existing mills (see the Reference list on the back).

The program covers all different mill layouts from single stand blooming mills over old looping trains to modern continuous mills, Kocks blocks and 2-High finishing blocks.

The programs cover all the conceivable symmetrical groove shapes and rolling sequences which can occur when rolling finishing Rounds, Squares, Hexagons and Flats in Wire Rod, Bar or Blooming Mills. By combining the basic groove types it is possible to form hundreds of different sequences to be used in the rolling process. It is also possible to make simulation and calculations of the Slit Rolling (2-, 3-, 4-,...) process.

The rolling library contains the following program modules:


Main module ROLLING

The Program for simulation and off-line control of rolling mills.
The data base programs LAYOUT, GROOVE TABLE and
ROLLING SCHEDULE are included.

Main module PASS DESIGN

The program for designing new grooves for single pass
sequences or for complete rolling schedules.

Module PLOT ROLL

The CAD program for making groove plans, groove composition
in rolls and roll drawings.

Module CALCTEMP

The program for detailed calculations of the temperature
destribution over the cross section as a function of time when
heating or cooling flat, square and round sections.

Subroutine package GRAPHS

The subroutine for displaying and printing all relevant process
parameters as graphs.

Graphic 1) The Rolling module for simulation, process improvements & process control of complete rolling mills. The pictures show a selected process data graph and the filling of the grooves for one of the 9 sequences for the rolling of 10 mm rebar.

Graphic 2) Making a Roll Drawing is an easy and time saving procedure in the PLOT ROLL module. Click ROLL DRAWING on the menu bar and the design window opens for input. The drawing can be saved as a PLOT ROLL file as well as a DXF file for common CAD/CAM programs.
